The Wild Colonial Boy
- I wanted to put this song on my album because
it is one of the songs I sang at many talent quests
in 2001. One night while at home I was strumming
away and singing the traditional version it somehow
turned into the version I've recorded. I have
three sons of my own, who are pretty wild at times.
I look at them with pride, with great hopes and
ambitions for them. They will live their own lives,
as did the Wild Colonial Boy, I only hope they
put as much energy, daring and adventure into
legal careers as Jack Doolan did in his not so
legal one.

The Wild Colonial Boy
There was a Wild Colonial
Boy Jack Doolan was his name
Of poor but honest parents he was born in Castlemaine
He was his fathers only son his mothers hope and
joy
The pride of both his parents the Wild Colonial
Boy
Chorus:
Yippee-Yi-Yay Yippee-Yi-OOH
The Wild Colonial Boy
At the age of sixteen he left his fathers home
And through Australias sunny clime as a bushranger
did roam
He robbed the wealthy squatters and their stocks
he did destroy
A terror to Australians was the Wild Colonial
Boy
Yippee-Yi-Yay Yippee-Yi-OOH
The Wild Colonial Boy
Surrender now Jack Doolan you see it’s 3 to one
Surrender now in the Queens High name or your
livin’ days are done
Jack drew a pistol from his side and spun it like
a toy
I’ll shoot but not surrender, cried the Wild Colonial
Boy
Yippee-Yi-Yay Yippee-Yi-OOH
The Wild Colonial Boy
